How come i cannot reinstall printer?

Do I need to re-install my drivers? (Epson printer q)?

  • I got a replacement epson printer and was wondering if I needed to reinstall the drivers. Do the drivers need to recognize some code that goes along with a particular machine or does it not matter if I already installed all the stuff with a different printer that is the exact same model? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. I know that the products that come on the disk free with the printer (such as the arcsoft photo program and the epson user's guide) don't need to be re-installed but was wondering about the drivers? With the old drivers, will my computer recognize this new printer since it is the same model? Sorry, I don't know much about this stuff...

    hi - if the model is exactly the same it will just be a case of plugging in your new printer and off you go - no need to install more drivers - but it's always good practise to run the latest drivers anyway

I have also had the experience of replacing a printerwith a similar one. The computer recognised at as soon as I connected it. When I clicked Printers in the control panel, I found there was a new icon for the new printer.all ready. I just had to check that it was set as my default printer.

You can try turning it on plugged in through the USB port and see if it will recognize your new printer, but I doubt that it will work. It comes with a new installation disc, wouldn't it be just as easy to just install it then to wait and figure out if it is going to communicate with it or not? before you install, uninstall the old one so that your not taking up any of your free space on your hard drive.
