What is the difference between Black ink and Photo Black ink?

Whats the difference between photo ink and color ink?

  • I just got my digital camera yesterday and i have some pics saved in my computer. I was just experimenting and decided to print some photos with some spare photo paper I have around, I printed it with a color ink instead of photo ink. It came out looking good. and it didn't have anything wrong with it. so i am wondering what's the difference between color ink and color ink when it comes to printing and photo quality?

  • Answer:

Dye-based ink consists of colorant that is fully dissolved and suspended in a liquid carrier, while pigmented ink consists of a very fine powder of solid colorant particles suspended in a carrier fluid. Most ink formulations produced today are equal or superior in quality, colour depth and longevity, be they dye-based or pigment. Keep your photos in a protective photo album or frame them behind UV resistant glass and they'll last longer.
