What makes the light on my printer keep blinking?

the light on my h.p. printer keeps blinking, and when i try to print something it shows it is own ,but it wont print?

HP printers will blink when: The printer is offline The cartridge is not being recognized Paper Jam Out of paper Maker sure that there is paper in the printer and it is pushed all the way back. Check inside the printer for any paper or debris. check your ink monitor to make sure that both cartridges are being recognized Align the printer
