Why does my printer only print text and not images?

Is there any way to print white color text / images on a transparency with home color inkjet / laser printer?

  • I want to print white color texts and images on a transparency with home color inkjet / laser printer, but it is always blank ( did not print any white color ). I'm using Adobe Illustrator CS 2, Photoshop CS 2 and Microsoft Office 2003

    Printer Technician chiming in - Nope, can't be done. Only way is with a specialty dye sublimation printer (used for trophy name plates) and then it would still be useless on a transparency as the bacground is clear and you would need a transparent white that would still show up darker on an overhead projector.

No white ink so no. Even high end printers don't print white. But it will show up on an overhead projector white anyhow (it is a white screen) so I don't see the problem. If you printed opaque white and put it on a projector, it would show up dark not white. If you are printing something for in a window or something similar, you can buy the media that is white and add the color to it. I don't know that you can get transparency sheets that are white, but you can get window clings and fabric transfers that way.

No. The only way I know how to do it is to create a shaded or solid box, with your white text inside the box. Make sure your overhead sheets are compatible for laser printing or they can melt and damage your equipment.

In order to print white letters, you would have to have a printer that uses a white ink cartridge. Printers only have black, yellow, magenta, and cyan (or a variation of these). There is not such thing as white ink for printing as far as I know.
