Doesn't recognize new cartridge on HP printer?
-
My HP Deskjet F2180 All-In-One Printer doesn't recognize the new cartridge I bought, but it's the black one I replaced, not the color one (which is still about 3/4 full), I already did the print test and both cartridges work but it still tells me that there is no black ink. How do I make it know that there is a new, full black ink cartridge without changing the estimated capacity of my color cartridge?

Answer:
maybe the cartridge is a compatible one, not genuine. ink companies make compatible cartridges for different printers, and they aren't genuine, becuase they are alot cheaper and often of lower quality, to make people buy them becuase of their low price. make sure its installed correctly. if its not a genuine, you might want to get one by HP (not compatible for HP) from HP.com. good luck! for more trouble u can send me a email at [email protected] and i can try and help further.

If you bought the black cartridge under the impression that it was a brand new OEM, then take it back, because it is most likely a refilled or remanufactured one. This is only a bad thing if you were sold an OEM, but given a reman. Refilled cartridges can't ever be "reset" to full. My question to you is....how accurate do you REALLY think that ink level indicator function is??? They haven't invented a printer yet that can calculate how much ink you have. They just aren't that smart. All they can do is count pages. Once you've shot off the number of pages that some pencil neck has calculated to be the average yield for that cartridge, your low ink-level warnings kick in. My advice, continue to print until your print-outs start to show signs of lack of ink (banding or striping in black text, colors mixing improperly because you are out of 1 of the 3 colors), then get it refilled. BTW, The HP 21 and 22 cartridges come with only 5ml of ink in them from the manufacturer. Anyone who knows how to properly fill these cartridges, knows you can get at least 20ml in on a refill, if the customer has run them dry. There is not one cartridge where the refill yield is that many times bigger than the original yield.
