What is the difference between Black ink and Photo Black ink?

What's the difference between "photo" ink and regular ink?

  • I'm just curious what the difference is. And why is it that yellow doesn't come in "photo yellow"

  • Answer:

On some printers, you replace the *black* cartridge with a photo cartridge. It extends your color range - you have the original three colors from the color cartridge (cyan, magenta, and yellow) and then three more from the 'photo' cartridge. Make sure it's a cartridge from the same company that makes your printer. There's definate differences between the inks that the printers use, and you're taking a chance using someone else's ink - also, your printer's warranty won't be valid with other ink in there.
