What is the best All-in-One printer for a Mac?
-
My epson CX4800 works fine when printing, but the Epson Scan software will not launch, and their technical support has been absolutely no help. I am looking at purchasing a replacement, but wonder about experiences with Lexmark, HP, and Canon. Also, Brother makes what appear to be good units, has anyone used one with a Mac?

Answer:
None! Get a printer and seperate scanner. The printer part is usually not up to par. Communication can be ambigous (talking to printer or scanner) although not as bad with Mac. And come on, it's not that hard to scan an image and print it out. When one breaks, you replace the broken one.

Think about laser printer, do not buy ink printers, they sell the printer cheaper then start collecting all our money by selling their ink, I changed three printers within 3 years, after spending lot now I switched over to laser, its very economical for black and white printing, Brother is affordable in the market now..

I would strongly suggest HP with a mac. Not only because HP provides superior print quality. But in the unfortunate instance of a problem, they also provide excellent customer support.

Do not get a Lexmark. In general, they are just not very good machines and they are expensive to operate. Canons are good, but they have a limited supply to begin with and only a few models work with Macs. You might want to look at the MP450 for Canon. It is comparable to your model but should be more reliable. Brother also makes some good all-in-ones, but like Canon they have a limited number of models. I have used them before with Macs and they work fine. HP has the best selection, but some of their machines are just okay and will cost you more than Canon or Brother to operate because HP doesn't have individual ink tanks like those guys.
