Connecting network computer to printer?

I am having problems connecting the printer to our new computer?

  • I was trying to set up our printer (Canon MX340 series) with the new computer we just purchased (HP Touchsmart 520). The computer cannot detect the printer; however, even though the wifi is on and our previous computer had no trouble connecting. The trouble message the printer software on the computer says: "Use a wireless LAN setup cable to set up a network connection for a new printer. Click Next. If the network correction is already set up for the target printer, check that the printer is on, and then click Redirect." My mother and I are not very computer savvy, could you help us?

    Go to the Canon website support section and download the latest software and drivers for your new computer operating system. Run the software and select network printer when opted. EDIT: The original CD that came with it is no doubt outdated to begin with and doesn't even have the new drivers.

It is saying that in order to get the Wireless side of it connected you must first connect to it using an ethernet cable to set it up. Once the settings are created you can then remove the ethernet cable and access the printer via wireless. If you aren't too good with networking, you may want to get someone that is to help you set it up.

The first thing to do is : - Open the box and use the CD inside it to install the drivers for the printer. - If there is no Cd, you can also download the Drivers for free on the Canon Website and try again. I'm sure after installing the drivers it will work like a charming. The computer is new so it might not know the Printer very well .

Plug the LAN Cable into the printer, then into your wireless router to set it up, then it will be wireless.
