I have a epsom printer and just brought new ink refills off ebay,cant get them to work.?

ya that happened to me wen i called the guy that i bought the ink from he told me that in the epson cartrage theres a chip that lets the printer know if its still full or not so that may be one cause, the chip is not telling the printer that its ok to use. the ink could be old and not drippping out, or the printer itself may be dried out. did u know that a special ink is used for most printers and if u buy used cartrages or refilled cartrages that do not use the ink recommended this may be a problem also. they hve a new cartrage for epson that doesnt have that clip on it and it doesnt work in my epson but it works on my friends. so if the printer says reload and u have a new cartrages go dump it and get another one because the co. that reloaded it did it wrong and its not worth it to worry over spilt milk if u can get a good deal its usually not worth it. go to a store or someplace that will give u ur money back if it dont work or just forget it and try again, but the bottom line is forget it and get another one because its got to do with some kind of chip in the ink cartrage.

go onto the Epsom website, you can talk direct to a customer service rep, I did this just 2 days ago. what a nice guy....... same thing happened to me, as it turned out, my printer is dead.

Does your ink cartridge have a "chip" on the side? If it's not brand new (may be refilled), it may need charging. The Epson printer knows if you put in a used cartridge but you can fool it by buying a charger for about $20. This works if you buy the ink & refill your own cartridges, then charge them. Eventually the sponges inside the cartridges dry out & can't be refilled effectively. I can no longer find cartridges for my Epson printer (only a few years old) & have been refilling but now will have to replace the printer as my cartridges are all too old.

There are thousands of cheap inks on the market and they are usually past their sell by dates and are dried. Currys stores throw away dozens every week and they can be found in the skip at the back of their store.

Maybe the printer's heads need cleaning, they're always getting clogged, esp. if the printer hasn't been used in a while.

The printers are actually cheaper than the cartridge itself.

Are they original genuine Epson inks or cheapo compatibles? Because the compatibles will wreck your printer. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
