Why won't Lexmark X3470 drivers install?

How2 install Lexmark X1180 on WindowsXP?

  • Just reinstalled windows. Have a Lexmark X1180 colour inkjet printer (one of those ones with the scanner integrated) Lost my installation CD Gone onto the Lexmark website - cannot find drivers for x1180, but found X1100 series. Call to Lexmark Tech Support (stupid menu system, call took 2 minutes 40 seconds, yet I only spoke to a human for 10 seconds to confirm the following) said that it was the X1100 series driver that I needed. Downloaded and installed per instructions (extract to C:\blah-blah-blah and then use Windows Add Printer Wizard and point the "Have Disk..." to this area) - it has problems installing it Anyone advise, please? (Gee, how stupid can Windows and drivers get?? Something that should take minutes continues to totally waste my life - I've got better things to do than sit here wrestling with stupid windows....)

    Sometimes ti will help by firstly directly connecting ur printer to de pc using a usb and de pc automatically searches for de software thru net to install it automatically..and den it wud wrk if it doesnt wrk i think it wud b betta 2 contact de ppl out lexmark and ask dem to snd u one....

Open your Printers and Faxes in the control panel and make sure to remove all references to the printer. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer side but leave it connected to the printer and make sure to leave it connected to the power. Run your driver installation, it will prompt you to connect the USB cable when the software is installed. Make sure your drivers file is CJXP1100EN.exe Good Luck!
