Besides using ink, not too much actually. First off the inner mechanisms are entirely different. A laser printer first wipes the drum wheel of any charge, then applies ink to the wheel, then it charges the ink, then it transfers the ink to the paper, and lastly it fuses the ink to the paper. More or less that's what it's doing. An inkjet just sprays ink on the paper from a cartridge. To see more in depth about a laser printer it check here: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/laser-printer.htm So besides the obvious similarities they're relatively different. They both transfer ink to paper, but a laser printer also has to fuse the ink to the paper. Also: Laser printers use dry ink. Inkjets use wet ink sprayed onto the page.

They both print on paper... They both can print black... They both use cartridges although the laser printer lasts much longer. They both can break just as easily... They both have printer in their name :P As you can tell most of this is sarcasm but hope it still helps you out.

Inkjets use drops of ink from the cartridge that spray out onto the paper, lasers use a electro static charge to put the ink onto the paper and than zap it to stablise the ink otherwise they work the same.
