What is the best brand of printer?

  • i want a new printer/scanner, my last printer/scanner was a canon which leaked ink everywhere and chewed up all my paper work. does any one know of a good printer/scanner that doesn't cost a fortune nor does it have expensive ink to go with it?? FYI: i did regular maintence on it, made no diff, it still destroyed my stuff n leaked ink

  • Answer:

You have a bad experience with a Canon but they are the best make of printers. Don't get an Epson whatever you do. Noisy ink guzzlers that are nothing but trouble. HP are also pretty good if you are totally against giving Canon another try.

Normally all brands are fine in terms of the hardware, its just that you might have got a bad hardware. You can try brands like HP, Brother, Xerox etc.

i have an epson printer, and it works good, however you cannot recharge the ink cartridges, however, i found out that if i ran out of black ink, and flipped it to colors, it printed with black ink and colors, or just black and white, if that's what you are printing, and it will print until you run out of ink in color's, go figure right?! but, it's easy, and no mess, so this is the one i would suggest, and the results of copying look really good, and the color's look good too! i spent some money a couple of times just changing the black, and then it would seem the other color's would need changed right afterwards, when i didn't use them, until i tried this..and it worked! it won't tell you this in the directions..

The most popular are Epson, HP, Brother and Canon The general rule is the cheaper the printer the more the ink will cost you. What I would do is look at all the printers that are within your price range and make sure how much the ink will cost you. Epson and brother - you can generally get compatibles that work out cheapest HP and canon - You can get most of them refilled, but every now and again you will need to buy originals when the cartridges fail.

Canon is at the top of PC World's November 2010 reliability survey: http://www.pcworld.com/article/211089/2010_reliability_and_service_survey_printers.html http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=211089&page=1&zoomIdx=1 Brother is second; Epson third. Not sure about the Brother since I've had issues with them in the past. For some reason the latest HPs have a very 'cheap' feel to them. They're now near the bottom on this survey. Me personally - my next printer will be an Epson Artisan since it prints on CDs.
