When you buy the psp, does a USB cable come with it?

Why dont printers come with a usb cable?

  • I have noticed that all new printers dont come with a usb cable to connect it up to your pc. if you think about it printers are the only pc accessory that u need to buy extra cables for. if u buy a base unit it comes with mouse and keyboard, speakers comes with all wires to get it connected. but its only the printer that dont come with one of the most inportant cables. I am refering to printers that can't work with out a pc that is.

  • Answer:

Some people want a long or short cable and due to the price it is silly to include one that may not be used.

There is more than one way to connect a printer. Some can be hooked up to a network or hub, some need to go to parallel ports, and some are wireless, some are USB and some printers are used as stand alone copier or photo printing units. The companies cannot predict how you will be using the machine so they exclude the cable since it would be wasteful in many cases. That way you are also always getting the length you need when you do buy one.

To save money; the printer market is EXTREMELY competitive right now and just a few dollars in price is important. I can remember when Black and Decker started putting cords on their new power tools that were only about eight inches long just to save a few cents on manufacturing cost! They rationalized it by claiming that most of the time customers were using an extension cord anyway. It was a STOO-PID decision and only lasted a year or two.

They're basically just trying to save a couple of bucks because there's been a major price war between printer manufacturers lately. I agree it's dumb, though.

There is a simple answer to this. cable bought from major retailer eg PC world Price from £12.99 http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1566598541.1158338352@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccekaddileefleecflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&category_oid=-10280&category_name=%2fDSG%2fAccessories%2fCables%2fUSB+Cables&camp_id=null&page=ProductList&show_all=true&fm=14&sm=11&tm=undefined cable bought from ebuyer price £0.58 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/search/?strSearch=&intCatID=24&bolShowAll=true&intSubcatUID=178 Most major retailer make massive profits selling you cables. I have it from a good source they make more money from cables and extended warantees than PC's Printers etc because of the competition.
