How do I fix my computer screen's low brightness issue?

someone was messing with my computer and accidentally turned down the brightness. No big deal right? just find the little sun, press Fn and f2 or f3, and it should be bright again. Not the case. I tried to do that and it didn't work. I pressed the button for a brighter screen and it kept turning it down until it could not become dimmer. Basically the brightness buton did not work. Is there some other way to fix that without usuing keyboard buttons?
