Why does my monitor keep switching off?

  • When i am on my computer doing something the monitor will just switch off, and when i turn it back on it doesn't light back up,when i push the button on the monitor to turn it on the button lights up, but the monitor doesn't, i leave my monitor for a while then it will come back on, is there something wrong with my monitor do i need another one, or did i do something to my settings someone please help me?

    It's either about to break or it's overheating (not getting enough airflow to cool it down). Is it covered with something ? Are you using it in a very hot place ? Note to Adam : I think that if it was the bulb the main power wouldn't go off. The screen would just go black.

sounds like the monitor is having problems with the light bulbs. I'm assuming it's a flatscreen LCD? Try this, when the monitor is on but the screen is black, hold a flashlight up to it and see if you can see text on the screen or whatever you have pulled up at the time. If you can see it, your bulbs are just off meaning they need replaced, or the circuit that controls them needs fixed. DON'T GO TO A MONITOR REPAIR PLACE. They are all scams! Get a techie friend or somebody you trust to open it up and mess with it.
