White squares on my monitor?

My monitor is covered in red squares!!?

  • When I turn on my computer everything loads and works just fine but for some reason I have colorful squares all over the monitor. I've tried using a different monitor with the same result and I've un-installed and re-installed Windows 7 to no avail. What's the problem? Could it be my graphics card?

  • Answer:

This is called artifacting, and it could very well be the fault of the graphics card. If you're using a card that is removeable, take it out of the system and see if the problem goes away. Conversely, if you're using integrated graphics and have a spare card lying around, try running the system with that one. If the problem goes away, the card is indeed at fault and you will need to RMA it.

Doubt it, its probably the monitor. If you have any old monitor try that just to make sure it is the monitor thats bad before you buy a new one.

Have you tried a different monitor cable? I had a bad one do this to me before. Just another thing you can try before replacing video card.
