How to connect Laptop to TV using VGA?

How do i connect a laptop to a flatscreen tv using a vga cable?

  • im trying to connect my windows xp gateway laptop to my digital lifestyles flatscreen via vga cable, but i dont know exactly how.

  • Answer:

do you have VGA output on laptop (if laptop is newer than 1year you'll probably have only an hdmi output (which case you'd better using hdmi cable) does your tv have a vga input (most tvs dont in which case an hdmi cable or vga-hdmi adapter will be needed) if connected by whatever cable make sure you go through control panel and i believe the option is 'connect to projector' to get it to work

After you connect the VGA cable to the laptop and to the television. You should automatically see something once you change the TV channel to VGA. If not the usual shortcut for XP laptops was fn + F4 to display to the VGA port.
