How to plug computer into tv?

My Samsung N130 screen got broken. How to plug the computer into my TV?

  • When I plug it in it is black. Yet when I plug in my friends Sony VPCM11M1E the computer screen appears on the LCD TV straight away. The N130 is still ok, I just cant use it because of the cracked screen. Any Ideas? If the N130 requires some configuration, how could I do this with a broken screen?

  • Answer:

    Connect to TV with VGA to VGA cable. You will also need a mini rca audio cable connected to the headphone jack on your N130 for sound. The Red & White terminals connect to the back of your TV. If you then press the Windows key + P and select "duplicate" you should be OK. That is providing you have these terminals available to you. ( if you don't want the audio cable use the sound from the N130)

You can try a couple of things. Switch off the laptop connect to the TV via the VGA port and reboot. Some laptops can detect an external display automatically during the boot process. If not then you can manually change the output using a function key combination. Hold down the Fn key (bottom left of keyboard) then look on the function keys for symbol like a TV monitor or letters CRT. Tap the key and the laptop will cycle through internal display external display internal + external display HTH DavidG
