Does touching an LCD monitor damage it?
-
I cleaned a LCD monitor gently once and i saw wavy colors. After I was done cleening I did not see any damage or defects. Does this damage the screen in the long run? Any sources would be nice too thanks!

Answer:
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. It is liquid and crystals (like in a calculator screen). You know how with a calculator, if it gets crushed the 8 looks like and E, it is that kind of thing. If you push on the screen, first you see the liquid move and next you crush the crystal. Black mark is broken crystals. Use a DRY swiffer to dust it and try not to touch it. Should you crush it and damage your screen, you can get a new screen from laptopparts.com and it is usually just 4 screens and a plug to swap out the damaged one with a new one. Costly mistake so its cheaper to just be careful. **If you like my answer best, rate it "Best Answer'.

Shouldn't touch it too much or too hard. Occasional light touching should be OK, but still better not to.

no it doesnt, not with mine, i was advised to dilute clothes softener with water, rinse a cloth in it, having it just dampesh, clean u screen with that, also stops dust from settling on it, works for me, hope you happy with info,. good luck.

You see waves because the liquid crystal is moving around. If you press a spot way too hard, it permanently forces the liquid crystal from that spot, which results in a dark spot on your screen.
