How to change my display adapter to a standard VGA mode?

Monitor Wont display on a laptop?

  • Not so long ago I gave my old laptop to my dad, the old laptop screen was already cracked so I gave the monitor to my dad as well, It was working alright but one night I was browsing the Internet and my VGA cable from my dads laptop to the monitor was disconnected so I plugged the VGA cable back and the monitor hasn't been display the laptop for a week as it keeps saying "No Signal Input", so I tried to boot it in BIOS mode to try to pick out some options, but strangely If I boot the laptop in safe mode the monitor displays but I cannot use the internet because my dads uses a dongle and safe mode does not work for it, so how can I display the monitor on normal windows boot? I believe its the display settings that has change, but it was very strange though after that night, the VGA cable got disconected from my dads laptops and I put it back in and its not working? please help, I would be very appreciated if you help. Thanks

  • Answer:

Most laptops will have a key sequence to toggle through the different monitor modes, depending on your model. A lot of the older laptop this was Fn-F5, Holding down the Fn key and pressing F5 repeatedly would toggle you through - Clone Displays, Single Display (Builtin), and Single Display (External) If you have a little more information on the model and make I might be able to get you some extra info that would help.
