What's wrong with my computer monitor?

Can you tell me whats wrong with my computer monitor? and if i can fix it?

  • my samsung syncmaster 245bw screen will go black while im using it, i noticed that if i wiggle the power cord connecting to the monitor the screen will light back up but i have to do this every couple mins, and ive switched the power cord and it still happens, is this just a loose conection? and would this be worth fixing or cheaper to buy a new monitor? p.s when the screen goes black the monitor still has power

    Sounds like the connection is going bad. Simple solution. Open it up, and resolder the port onto the board. If you can't do this, find some geek who will do it for you. It's a 15-30 minute solution, and is very easy.

If the monitor still has power, I'm guessing the VGA cord (http://www.avtoolbox.com/images/1t-vga-cattx-rear.jpg) is loose, make sure the screws are tightened if they have it, if not make sure it has plenty of slack and there are no cords weighing it down. If the power cord was the issue, it would turn off completely. Seeing and the picture goes out its more than likely the display cord.
