HELP! My monitor goes into power saver mode whenever I try to play a video game. How do I stop it?
-
My computer is is Dell Inspiron 546 with an AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-Core Processor, 6GB RAM, a Dell S2009W Monitor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 graphics card, and I'm using Windows Vista. All my drivers are updated. It runs fine whenever I use it for internet, Microsoft Office, watching movies online, etc. However, whenever I try to play video games (I've tried it with Medieval 2: Total War and Shogun 2: Total War, the latter is much more recent though, but I still have hardware well in excess of all the basic requirements to run these game) the monitor goes black and shows me a little blue box that says "Entering Power Saver Mode" within a few minutes of play. The only way I can get out of this is to do a cold shut down (pressing the button on the tower) and turning the PC back on again. I've gone into the Power Options and turned EVERY power option off to never, but the problem still persists. I've even changed the advanced settings to cause it to never enter this mode. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten much help from the support sites either. PLEASE HELP!!!

Answer:
This means your Graphics Card is not sending signals, it stops sending signals after a few minutes of play and this forces the monitor to go to power saver mode. This is the fault of your Graphics Card, try downloading the latest Drivers for this card from NVIDIA site. then try tweaking the options from NVIDIA control panel. check the Graphics Card for overheating using some temperature monitor. otherwise try replacing the graphics card. Another possibility is your graphics card is not properly juiced up, thus forcing it to stop working, try replacing your SMPS power supply for a higher capacity (Watt or VA).
