How do I get my monitor to support my video card?

Video Card Resolution?

  • Ok, I have a widescreen monitor that supports a resolution of 1440x900 - I upgraded my graphics card (BIG TIME) from onboard graphics to a geforce 7600 with 512MB. - The graphics card says it supports up to 2560x1600 - Now my question is this: Will my Flat pannel monitor support what the video card can put out, or am I restricted my my monitor? - My display properties only list up to 1440x900 right now. Do I need to get a monitor driver or something? I want a higher resolution like my card states...

  • Answer:

if ur monitor can only support up to 1440x900 resolution, there is no way u can change it unless u change a monitor.

Each Monitor has a maximum resolution, upto which it can support.. If ur monitor supports a max. resolution, it can be set to it only if ur Graphics Card supports it. Since u have a Graphics card, which can support higher resolutions, it is not that ur monitor can support the max. resolution as stated in the Graphics Card. To do so, u need a Monitor which support the max. of the Graphics card. Newer and costlier Monitors would support them.

1440x900 is plenty enough Your card will support that(monitor) plus more up to 2560x1600. I cant imagine buying a 2560x1600 supported monitor...lol Its up to you if you want to buy a newer screen.
