Is it bad to move LCD screen when the computer is on?

If I get a 2 computer monitor setup, can I do full screen on only one monitor?

  • I'm considering getting a dual screen setup, but I think this is a special situations compared to others. I am trying to do a dual screen setup in my home office, but wants one screen for work and one for fun (probably will be a LCD tv). I want to know if I use the TV as a second screen, can I do fullscreen only on the TV? For example, if I'm working on a paper at my desk and and open a dvd program or emulator on the second computer screen (the TV).. can I do fullscreen only on that TV? or will the dvd program or emulator spill over to my first computer screen (the one I wan tto reserve for work)? My computer is powerfull enough to do two pc screens and comes with two dvi connections on the graphics card. I just want to make sure this is possible, or that there is a program that makes this possible before I do this. So to recap.. 2 computers screens, 1 pc and 1 LCD TV pc computer screen for work LCD TV for fun I would like it so that I can move between the monitors and have different programs running on each monitor (I can figure this out) **Most importantly, I would like to know if I do fullscreen on one monitor, will it stay on one monitor? So I can run a movie from my pc on the LCD tv in full screen on the TV while working on a paper or doing something else on the pc computer screen.

  • Answer:

Fullscreen will only be on one monitor. In fact, stretching most videos across two monitors isn't possible because the video codec renders and outputs to only one device. If you have a split video, it will be black on the secondary monitor. Most programs will let you fullscreen to either monitor, but some may automatically use your primary monitor when you hit fullscreen.
