Why is my monitor not working?

Why is my desktop monitor not working?

  • Well; I've looked through a thousand and one questions here on yahoo answers about computer monitors not working. None of them had the same problem as me. I have a 19" Gateway monitor, and my tower is an e-machine or something... Well, when I turn on my monitor (My tower already being on), it gives me a little screen that says 'No Signal' and underneath of that it has a Red, blue and green colour thingie. Then it just clicks off. I've already checked the cord that hooks the monitor to the tower, it's snug as a bug. I unplugged it and re-plugged it a few times too; Made no difference :/ It's done this before, but I can't remember what on earth I did to fix it... Sorry, I don't know much about computers haha. Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance!!x

  • Answer:

Like what your monitor said, it does not receive video signal from the CPU, either because of a faulty cable, faulty video card or CPU not booting up. If you have access to another desktop PC, try swapping the cable, monitor or CPU to determine where the problem is but I believe the monitor itself is not faulty.
