How to connect macbook to external monitor?

How do you connect a 2011 MacBook Pro to an external monitor?

  • What do you need to connect it and what are the best monitors in your opinion

  • Answer:

You need to get a DVI/MINI-DVI to VGA/HDMI/DVI-D connector that Apple sells. After that have System preferences detect your monitor. Have a look at this page and determine your inputs: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=apple+dvi+to+vga&x=0&y=0 Best Buy usually carries these connectors. I don't know what the best monitors are per se: I guess I do know that the best monitor you'll find for a mac book pro is an Apple Monitor since it was built specifically for its own machines. However, I will say don't buy this brand: i-INC. That brand sucks. Stay away from it. I just had a relatively new monitor die out on me for no good reason.
