How to change screen resolution (windows 7) ?

  • HELP! Okay so I bought the windows 7 Ultimate installation CD online from microsoft, and payed this guy to install it for me (and to teach me how to install it).... But then I accidently throwed away the cd because it was in a pile of paper and i didnt know it was in that pile of paper.. i was going to throw away the pile of paper and i did throw it away. So any ways, its too late. After that I needed to re install my system (after a few weeks). i so installed ubuntu and used it for almost 1 year. But then i needed to re install windows 7 ultimate on my laptop so i bought a copy of it. The installation was succesful and stuff, i put in the product key and the rest of the stuff and it worked!!! but the resolution was to big, so i right clicked > screen resolution on the desktop... It was on 800 x 600 so i put it on 1024 x 768 . (1024 x 768 looks REALLY REALLY BAD, it looks stretched and stuff.. it got a little better but still its not the original resolution i used on my first installation of windows seven and on ubuntu (linux). the original screen resolution is 1280 x 800. May some one HELP ME !? also on the first installation of windows 7 ultimate (before i installed linux), I was able to view the transparent AERO theme and not JUST the classic.... but for some reason when i click on the aero themes, just the desktop wallpapers change but the windows 7 classic theme stays. i clicked trouble shoot problems with transparent aero effects and here are some screen shots... the screen looks stretched. : http://ipic.tk/s/wjw.png the screen shot of the trouble shooter: http://ipic.tk/s/vide.png IM REAALLY LOOKING FORWARD FOR SOME ONE TO HELP!!! if you dont know, could you link me to the best windows 7 forum(s) ????

  • Answer:

You didn't say what make/model your computer/laptop is? From what you are describing and from the message in the second image, it is clear to me that this is a driver issue with your video card. You need to go the manufacturer's website (i.e. your computer manufacturer) and download the correct/latest video card driver and install it. This should hopefully resolve the current issues you are experiencing.
