  • Answer:

you might be able to get one even cheaper by buying a broken w600 with a working screen - people selling broken phones don't always know the value of the components whereas people who sell components do. replacing an lcd screen on anything is generally not that difficult, they're normally only attached to a circuit board with a small clipped ribbon and held in place by four screws. these screws generally will require you to buy a cheap torx screwdriver set to avoid wrecking the screws, for that phone it will be a t5 or t6 but get a full set, they're cheap enough. as long as you *carefully* take it apart and don't force anything you won't damage the phone or snap plastic pieces. after ALOT of searching specifically for your question, i've found a disassembly guide which will walk you through removing the old screen to fit the replacement. here it is: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1133629 if you have trouble getting a replacement screen from anywhere, the screen from the w550 is identical so you could buy one of those and fit it to the w600.

Honestly, for the hassle, do what I did: Go to eBay. Find my phone. Get it for ridiculously less than what I paid at Verizon, because it's more than a year old. Re-activate it after having Verizon transfer all the data. I DID make sure the phone was going to be able to be activated via Verizon first, but if it's a model you already have, it shouldn't even be a concern. I don't have the kind of free time it would take to risk zero contact to fix a phone, and even if I did, once I factored in the labor and all that, it was way cheaper just to replace it. And I still have my insurance on my phone for when I need it. Good Luck... :)
