How to get insects out from underneath your computer monitor's screen?

  • Ok, so I know this may seem like an odd question, but for the best two years on my older computer, around every August-November, I tend to get tiny little bugs/insects that somehow get underneath the monitor screen on my computer. I know this because I can't wipe them off the screen, but they still crawl around under the monitor. I've looked this up before and apparently I am not the only one. And before anyone says it's a virus, I am 100% sure it isn't because I've checked BOTH my computers with good anti-virus softwares and they're both clean. Anyway, on my newer computer, I have started to sometimes get little bugs under the monitor just like on my older computer. Some have died (on both PCs) and have just stuck to the place where they died so I have little black specks on my screen now that look like dead pixels. Thankfully, this computer has a much bigger monitor than my older computer so it is hard to notice them. Anyway, enough blabbing... I was wondering if anyone knew how to get them out from underneath your screen? I actually have a pretty fat bug crawling underneath my screen right now, distracting me every now and then cause there's this big black ugly dot walking around on my computer screen... It is really annoying. :/

  • Answer:

Assuming they are real and not a screen saver or a figment of your imagination, you need to open the box. Unplug the monitor and leave it overnight - that way any high voltages inside will have dispersed. Undo the screws on the back and the outer case will come away. You can then clean the front screen inside and out. Wipe over the front of the LED screen gently with a lint free cloth (the type that come with glasses is ideal). Then you have the slightly more difficult job of getting the works back into the case.
