My monitor keeps getting darker?

My monitor keeps turning off and on again every 5 minutes.?

• I have an LG FlatronWW253TQ, Quad Core, GeForce GTS250 setup. All of them are bought together and are 2 years old. As the title implies, the monitor keeps turning off and on again every 5 minutes. The weird thing is, I don't experience it as much (every once in a while but not often) when simply browsing or running simple programs like Office or media players. However, if I'm playing video games like NBA 2k11 or COD:Black Ops, the monitor turns on and off every 5 minutes, sometimes even every 2 minutes. And it seems to be getting worse. I've read in some forums that the problem may be the monitor itself, the video card, or the power supply. Am I correct to say that it might not be the video card because if it's the video card, the screen would be broken or the images won't render correctly. I mean the screen images render perfectly. Any information would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  I don't understand your "off and on again every 5 minutes" description, and I don't know if this will help, but when my previous monitor's light went out (and we had no idea what was going on) the screen kept going off every minute and I'd have to turn the d*mn monitor off and on. Eventually, the screen was only lit for a second or two before it went off again. Maybe that's what's happening to your monitors, the tiny light bulbs in them are just dying? But 2 years doesn't sound old, so I don't know. Just thought I'd answer this.
