How do you fix a burned out monitor?

My laptop wont work with another monitor?

  • My laptop's screen won't light up anymore. Either the light has burned out or there is something wrong with the connection. I do not have the money to fix that right now. So, I tried to hook it up to another screen I have. The laptop has the right plug, but not the holes for the screws on the side of the separate monitor's plug. So the connection is unstable and I can hardly get it to work. Is there anything I can do to make this work? (And I'm sorry for the lack of technical terms, haha, I hope this made sense.)

  • Answer:

The 'holes' that you're referring to that are missing on the computer may just only need to have the missing standoff screws replaced. There should be two screw holes, one on each side, that should be there for the missing standoffs. You can most likely get a couple from a local computer repair center that can be put back in and allow you to properly secure the video cable again. Without those standoffs, there's not really much you can do to properly secure the connection.
