What is the difference between LCD and Projection TVs?

Is there any difference in lcd tvs to lcd monitors?

  • hiya all. here is the problem i play xbox 360 games on 32" lcd tv but on that i get a headache on my 5yr (at least) old pc monitor 19" no headaches. I have heard that the backlight on lcd screens can cause headaches. But my 19" hanspree monitor on the options it has brightness and contrast does not say backlight. On tv it has backlight brightness contrast (dynamic contrast as well). Just wondering did the old monitors not have a backlight. And is the technology for monitors diferent for pc monitors i have heard that monitors now use a invertor for displaying light. But monitors i have looked at all say backlight. Very confused. Just wondering would it be worth buying a bigger pc monitor 24-26" for the xbox gaming. As watching normal tv on the lcd tv im fine with. Any help much appreciated.

    may be u can turn your TV in energy saving mode, I have same problem wid my TV , too much brightness and causing headech, so I run it on 37% power, and do settings in cinema mode so to get minimum brightness.

An inverter is how you convert DC power to AC. It is not a light. ALL LCD monitors are backlit. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the screen (think like the original Gameboy or Gameboy Color). Newer monitors have LED backlighting that can be controlled. Older monitors used fluorescent bulbs that were either on or off. Anyway, the reason you're getting a headache could be due to the size of the TV, the motion of the video game, the brightness of the screen, or any number of factors.

Your tv lcd is based on LED technology which it gives out a lot more dynamic contrast. Almost every new lcd monitor is based on LED technology now and I remember having similar issues as well when I bought my first led lcd monitor.

hi jon, i know trust me that we are in a recession but dig this, i read pcworld magazines have been a subscriber for a couple of years now there was an article that they showed and i read it but somehow it did not go into my memory banks. or was busy doing something else but anyway it talked about how every american will have to buy a new monitor because because the manufacturers because of the bigger screens removed a download that one size monitor fits all. so i noticed an error in my computer log so i tracked it back to my resolutions so i called to find out that the only way i could get my real resolutions was to buy a new monitor. then it hit me about what that article was talking about. so now we have the problem i didn't that that it would effect those with smaller monitors but we found out that it does so to fix your problem is a new monitor. good luck hope i was helpful to you
