How do I correct my laptop screen orientation?

Orientation of my desktop on my computer monitor?

  • My son just stepped on my laptop and I think he right-clicked on something and chose it, because my entire desktop screen is now tipped sideways! Instead of the taskbar being at the bottom it is on the right hand side of the screen and all my icons and background are tipped as well...does anyone know how I switch the orientation? Thanks! (I don't know if this matters - I have a Dell with Windows XP)

  • Answer:

Try this key combination: Ctrl+Alt+ Arrow Key (left or right). If that doesn't work, try this: This will work if you have NVidia video card. Right click anywhere on your desktop (where no icons), and select Properties from menu that will pop up. Go the the last tab (I think it's settings), and then you'll see "Advanced settings" button. Click it. If you see NVidia tab, go to it. Depending on the version of the video driver, you might see an option "Rotate Display" under Display task. That should do it. If you have ATI based video card, there should be a similar option. Also depending on how your computer is setup you might be able to go to NVidia Control panel just as you right click on yoru desktop in the first step.
