What problems can be with Dell Flat Screen Monitor?

LCD Monitor problems, possibly back light?

• I have a one year old Dell laptop and recently I have been having problems with the LCD monitor. Randomly, and it almost exclusively happens right after I start my computer, the monitor goes to almost complete black. I can still see the images on the screen, but they are extremely faint. The thing is that it does this randomly, but it is horribly annoying. Is it the back light for the LCD screen? If so, if it works some of the time does that mean it can be easily fixed? If I have to replace it, how much does it normally cost? Or would I be better off just to get a second monitor to work with and use my laptop like a desktop (which I hate but will accept)?

  It sounds most defiantly like the back light is on its way out i dont think the part is very expensive but i know from experience that they are difficult to change so probably expensive for an engineer do
