How do I know when I need a new LCD monitor?

Problems with new Acer x223w LCD monitor.?

• I had a CRT monitor for the longest time and it finally died out on me sooo I bought a new monitor. I'm having issues with a new monitor I just purchased. I'll be on a website & it will be a black backround with white text. a lot of the white text will have a lot of green mixed into it, Or for instance right now I'm looking at the tab I have opened called Ask a Question - Yahoo! Answers The "ahoo Answ" have some pinkish red in it. It seems to be with certain fonts too. Also I was playing Crysis yesterday and it was lagging bad due to high resolution so I wanted to turn it down to 1024x768 and the monitor freaked out by having 2 huge glowing colors on the side of the monitor, 1 greenish other one greenish yellowish so I changed it back immediately. Also here's another example, I'm on this website and you know the striped style on the left and right hand sides of the page? as I scroll up and down it flickers & blinks a lot. I have no idea what's going on. Here are my computer specs. Intel E7400 Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS 4GB DDR2 ram Windows XP 64bit To add to it I've reinstalled windows & no luck, I've also updated my video card drivers to the latest. Is there some sort of configuration I need to do with my video card settings or what. Or is it a defective model..I have no idea as I'm new to LCD monitors.

  I have two of those monitors for over a year, and have no problems..my game machine has a 260 core 216 set to max and the screen set to highest res. It sound like you just got a bad one...poop happens! Take it back to the store..with receipt..and see if they will exchange it. oh and no you can change the res, down that far...you wont be able to see the tool bars as they will be off screen!
