Why is my monitor turning off by itself??

  • I have a ViewSonic LCD monitor that is 3mos old and a Compaq Presario that is 1yr old. The monitor has started turning off for no reason. I will turn it back on and it turns off, I turn it back on, it turns off. I have checked the control panel settings and the hard drive seems to be working fine. Some days it doesn't do this at all and then sometimes it does it so often that I get aggravated and shut the whole system down and walk away to keep from putting my fist through it. Any ideas before it winds up in the trash???

    Are you sure your options are not set to turn the monitor off after xx amounts of minutes without activity ? Right click desktop Click Properties Click Screensaver ( check the options ) on Screensaver page at the bottom it has a button for POWER. Check the options in there. Sarge

try replacing the power cord theyre like 7 dollars. This happened to me and i got really mad and hit my monitor with a hammer. Then come to find out my friend had the same problem and it was the power cord so id try that.
