Is it possible for my computer to have 2 monitors?

Problem with using 2 monitors on 1 computer?

  • I have a brand new computer built recently (OS: Windows XP) with 3.22g CPU AMD dual core with 4gb ram and GeForce9600 Video Card. I am trying to use 2 monitors to multitask, ex. watch video on one while surfing the internet on the other. I was successful installing the 2 monitors and it works great. But the problem is that when I play game on my primary monitor, the secondary monitor with the video on freezes and stops working. But When I quit the game the monitor returns to normal and starts working. This only seem to happen when I play games...Is there any settings that I need to fix up to resolve my problem? Thnx in advance.

    i have this same problem..dont know of any cure for it. i can put a tv show on monitor B...but when i play a game on monitor A, B freezes....its the way the video system works. Games take over the whole card...locking out the other video stream.

maybe Ur graphics cards does not support your high requirements update ur graphics card or get another one to go in your AGP/PCI-E slot

You might try running the games in windowed mode rather than full screen. I'm not sure how you would do that if the game doesn't give you the option. It seems as though the game is consuming all video resources.

This normally happens because the vast majority of games are not made to be played on a 2 monitors. Some are, Microsofts Flight Simulator, Supreme Commander, and X2, X3 are notable ones.

I don't exactly know the answer to your question, but I'm pretty sure I can point you in the right direction for an answer. Visit the Slizone.com. My theory: While gamming your GPU needs all of it's rescorces so it automatically give up on the additional display while it's busy. This could be why you get functionallity back after your done gamming.
