How do I fix the graphics on my laptop?

I'm having an issue connecting my laptop to my tv. How do I fix this?

  • I'm trying to use my tv as my monitor for my laptop. My laptop has a recommended resolution of 1366 x 768 and when I plug the laptop into the tv, the tv says it has a recommended resolution of 1280 x 720. My laptop's graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GT 540m. The television is a Samsung 26inch LA26R71BDX. I'm connecting the laptop to the tv via HDMI. The issue I'm having is that all four sides of my desktop are cut off on the tv screen. I have tried multiple resolutions on the the tv as well changing it to zoom, 16:9, and 4:3. Nothing stopped the tv screen from cutting off the sides of my desktop. How do I fix this issue?

  • Answer:

set the resolution to 1280x720p. How difficult is that to change? I assume its windows 7. Go to control panel, then display. Once there set the resolution to the desired size and it will be in the TV's native resolution. Your laptop has no resolution, the screen however does. Its about the screen not the computer.
