How much does it cost to repair a laptop screen?

• I was on vacation, and I had my laptop on the floor charging. My stepdad was trying to move the hotel's recliner, and my brother and sister were fighting over the beds. They had been fighting the entire vacation, and my stepdad kinda lost his temper and started thrashing the recliner around, and he accidentally hit my laptop. The screen is cracked now and there are 3 big black spots. There are 2 cracks that go throughout the entire monitor. There's no way I can keep it like this, so I need to repair it. The warranty is long gone. I don't want to tell my stepdad, because I don't want him to feel bad about breaking it. It's a Toshiba with a 15.4" screen, and the label says it's a diagonal widescreen TruBrite display. I don't know if that matters, but I'm putting it here just in case. How much would it cost to repair my laptop? I know it's expensive, but is there a way I can get a lower price on repairs? I'm only a teenager and I don't have a lot of money, and my parents won't pay for it. What's the best option?

  If things are still visible on-screen, try and get your data backed up before you do anything - so then at least you still have all your work saved! Screen repairing is quite a task, and usually impossible for some people, so try taking it to a professionals 1st to see if anything can be done. If there is hope, i would estimate about £60-70 (Near $100) - so its not cheap! You may be lucky, and your laptop may still be under warranty from the company that you bought it from, in which case you can get a free refund of your money. If you think that prices are too high, then you should have the right to ask the person who broke your laptop to pay for a new 1/repairs. If not all of it, then a good part of it. Breaking such expensive things isn't as brush-off-able as other things, and, unless you belong to a rich family who can afford these breaks, then you can't do much other than save, ask for a refund, or get somebody to pitch in.
