How to transfer desktop icons to a new monitor?

  • I just bought a new monitor. Will all the icons on my old monitor appear on my new monitor automatically or do I have to back up the desktop and transfer it to the new monitor?

  • Answer:

    I am assuming your only using 1 monitor correct and not dual monitors? By simply swapping monitors, the icons will automaticlly be displayed on the new monitor. Now if you are hooking up 2 monitors and want the icons on the new monitor you might have to select them all and drag them over.

If it is in the mirror mode for duel monitoring. If it just extends the desktop, then it wont. Unless you drag them onto the next monitor, but if you un plug the monitor, they might not move back. Unless you plug it back in and move them back.
