How to fix screen on my computer?

How can I fix a dark (almost black) computer screen?

• My computer scren is almost black, but you can still se images on it if you shine a light upon it. The only way I can see this page is by shining a flashlight on the screen. The screen is an HPw1907, and I can't tell the type of computer it's hooked up to (I'm pretty sure it's a windows, and it says'Xblade' on the side.) It's a fairly new computer, so we don't understand why it would be doing this. Sometimes when we change a certain monitor setting, it will light up for a few seconds, but then it goes to black again. I've already checked the contrast/ light/ color type settings, but that doesn't seem to affect it (but we might not be changing the right thing.) Also, we messed up the screen settings a bit trying to fix it, so it seems the ratio is larger than the screen too, it would be good to be able to fix that, it would be grand. Any ideas would be nice. (sorry if this typing is a little off, the screen is kinda hard to see. )

  Your backlight is either bad or has a bad connection. It's a pretty delicate proces to fix, so unless you are very confident in your computer repair skills, you should contact a repair shop, or, if it's still under warranty, whoever you bought it from. I don't know how much a repair shop charges for fixing the problem, but you can get a replacement backlight bulb from eBay for ~$10.
