is there away to change the background image of individual workspaces on Gnome Desktop?

My desktop background won't change from just colors-even if i find an image and click set as background?

  • okay, so when i go to change my desktop background, all of the choices are grayed out including "browse" even when i go to an internet image and right click and choose set as background, it won't show up over the color. PLEASE help! it gets very frustrating!!

    Wow, this is a good one. Okay. I'm thinking active content issues here. Try. Right click a blank part of your desktop choose properties. Click the Desktop tab Click the Customize Desktop button. In the new window click the Web tab Check to see if the "Lock Desktop Items" box is checked. If it is uncheck it, see if that solves the problem. If not, try deleting any of the web items listed in the content window.
