How do i fix my screen?

How can I fix this problem with my TV screen resolution?

  • Basically, I got a new TV to use as a monitor, and when I try to put the computer in full resolution, it puts the left half of the screen on the RIGHT and theres a red line down the screen, about a third from the right. In the Nvidia control panel, it seems to think that the native resolution is 1440x900 and if I set it to that, it works (albiet being in a horrible resolution). An interesting thing I'd like to point out also - I got it working once, full resolution with the screen all in the right place. I accidentally pushed auto adjust on the screen and it went back to its retarded half screen state. It's a LOGIK screen. Does anyone know how i can fix this? (also, sorry, no idea how i got it working before. i was unpluggin and repluggin stuff in and out, restarted it and for some reason it worked.) max resolution is 1920 by 1080 pixels. this is the resolution i use when the screen glitches (screen is 22" as well btw) another random thing, every time i change the resolution, and change it back to max, the screen is in a slightly different place Also, i HAVE updated my graphics drivers. I've looked on the tv's menu itself, and nothing i do solves the problem. i seriously dont get what i need to do here

there are several possibilities, and as you have already updated the drivers have you checked to see what output the VGA card can actually do? Open the Display Settings and go into the Advanced section, you should see a button to List all Modes, this will tell you if the display adapter (your VGA card) is actually capable of displaying the resolution you want it to do. If it isn't then obviously that is your problem and you need to change the card for one that will do the size you want. How is the computer connected to the TV, VGA cable, DVI or HDMI? HDMI should not be an issue, VGA might be if there is a DVI converter on a VGA cable, change the cable for a DVI to VGA or proper DVI to DVI if necessary but my money is on the card does not do the required resolution as one of the default options.

Which TV are you using as Monitor if you have the USER MANUAL than read how to do auto screen resolution setup. There must be some function on the remote. If you still facing the problem than you should buy a separate monitor for your use. This may help you.

Does your monitor display the same thing as you laptop screen? If yes, then you are using it in a clone mode where the resolution can only be as high as the laptop's resolution and at 1440x900 that sounds about right. This can be fixed by using the TV as your ONLY screen (this would leave your laptop screen blank). Doing this depends on your computer. For HP laptops you press FN+F4 at the same time and it will switch between different modes. Other laptop makers have different key combos that you may need to press in order to flip through the different modes. MODES: 1. laptop ONLY (max 1440x900) 2. laptop AND external monitor (max 1440x900) 3. external monitor ONLY (max 1920x1080) If no (to the question at the top), then that means you are trying to add it as a second monitor to extend your desktop. In that case it should be as easy to fix as setting the resolution to 1920x1080 on your laptops output (to the tv). After that all you have to do is slide a window off to the left or right (depending on how you have it setup) in order to see it on your TV. Also, If the resolution is set properly the auto button should resize the screen to fit the whole TV.
