How to use my Monitor as a TV screen?

How to use a new TV screen as a PC monitor as well as TV. Need some guidance..?

  • LG TV that has a connection at the rear that states "For Service" which the monitor cable from my PC will fit. However it does not state VGA or is it TGA? Could anyone help me out as to whether this should or could work? When I click through the input options on the TV this is limited to TV, AV1 and AV2, Thanks

    most new tvs will work as a pc monitor as long as you have the correct cable. don't just rely on the cable from your PC. go to any computer hardware store (even tesco's will do!) and ask for the appropriate cable. it may be a scart cable or a simple a to b cable. ask in-store and specify if it doesn't work you will bring it back for a refund.

Hi I dont know what its like on your telly but on my mums she has an option that its just for PC rather and all the others as well. so I dont know what yours will come through as, all I suggest its try it as a monitor if that works try filcking the TV option and see if you get a signal, and do the same if your when you are using it as a PC monitor just flick through the same till you find it,

That is probably an RS232 connection for servicing purposes. You will have to look up specification of particular TV (in handbook?). Some have VGA connectors as for normal monitor and others HDMI for connection to graphics card DVI output, if available. Next would be a S-Video connection but picture will not be very good for such as text. Again, a socket on the graphics card is needed for this. There might also be composite video single (little round) RCA socket on the graphics card that can be used. The latter two would be selected by AV1 or AV2.
