My monitor is broken. What do I do?

What should i do if my monitor got broken and the image is now tinted red? How can i repair this?

  • Please do not tell me to buy a new monitor or any useless things like that. I need help to repair it. Thank you.

  • Answer:

The first thing I would do is plug it into another computer. If it does the same thing you know for sure its the monitor and not the graphics card. The next thing you should do is go into the monitor menu which is usually accessible by pressing a button that is on the monitor itself. Navigate to a menu option that says something to the effect of "RGB color options". If the green value is turned down very low or all the way down then that is most likely your problem. Simply adjust it until the color saturation looks normal again. If that does not fix it then it is not a problem that is readily fixable. The specific cause will differ between LCD monitors and CRT monitors, but it has something to do with a transmission failure of the color green. Red and blue without the contribution of green will give everything a red hue. You would most likely have to take it to a monitor repair shop if this ends up being the case.
