Annoying, occasional flickering on my monitor?

Monitor Flickering!! HELP!?

  • The monitor on my eMachines PC started "flickering" a couple weeks ago and I cannot figure out what the cause is. The computer uses an on board(integrated) Nvidia graphics adapter. So far I have tried the following with no success at fixing the problem. I have physically installed a brand new monitor with new cables, still flickers. I have installed updated video drivers, still broke I have uninstalled the video drivers, rebooted in safe mode, and installed the original video drivers and it still doesnt work. I am out of idea's as to what the problem could be. I am using the OEM 17" Flat Panel monitor. What is even more weird is at at 800x600 resolution the image is perfectly fine, not flickering or jumping. But the higher the resolution the worse the image gets. At 1024x768(what I have always used) it jumps alot, even higher resolution is just terrible. It seems to happen much more when there is motion on screen as well. Please any idea's?!?!

    go into your display settings in control panel and change the refresh rate.

Hi Reading your case i can say there are 2 probabilities. 1. Operating Corruption 2. Onboard Graphics Card Malfunction. I strongly suspect that the problem lies with your operating system, where the video drivers despite having been reinstalled cant handle higher resolutions. I would suggest that you back up all data first & then reinstall your operating system, its good practice to always reinstall OS & then if that fails resort to replace your hardware. In your case even after reinstalling OS, if it doesn't resolve the issue then you will have to replace the motherboard which is a costly proposition, try connecting a PCI or PCI express or AGP Video card whichever slot your Motherboard support & check if the problem stops, rather than replacing the entire MB it would certainly be cheaper for you to get a new video card. Hope this help.
