How to get image from laptop to external monitor?

How to change laptop image to show on desktop monitor?

  • my laptop screen is currently blacked out on the bottom three inches. i cant get this fixed till another week or two. But when i was on the phone with Dell they showed me how to hook up my laptop screen image to show on my desktop's monitor. i know how to hook up the cable, i just dont remember what button to press to get the image to switch over. it was an F-number button at the top. So all i need to know is what F button at the top i need to press to get the image on my laptop to show up on the desktop monitor?? Thanks!

its usually the function key + an fkey.. take a look at your f keys and see if any have a pic of a monitor on them.. after you hook up the wire just hit the fkey that is for the monitor,, if that doesnt work, hit the fn key + the fkey

Right click on your desktop and choose Personalized or something like that or look for Display Options on your PC. You can choose from there which image to display.
