What's the best monitor for Xbox360 and PC?

How can i connect my xbox360 to my pc monitor?

  • How can i connect my xbox360 to my pc monitor? My pc monitor uses a vga cable. also could i use a splitter cable to have both in at once?? thanks

  • Answer:

The XBox 360 has VGA support built-in. All you need to connect it to your VGA monitor is the purpose-built Microsoft XBox HDAV VGA cable: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/splash/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ It's available at places like Best Buy, Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect, etc. .

Let me start out by telling you what kind of laptop I have. I have a $1300 HP Pavilion 6500 with a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 graphics card. I believe this makes a difference in how much lag you have between your Xbox and laptop, but I'm not sure. But anyways, it's really easy to do this. 1) You have to purchase either PCMCIA or ExpressCard capture card. Luckily my laptop came with a TV tuner, which had an ExpressCard and a wire for A/V cable and S-Video cable input. You also need to purchase a S-Video cable for your 360. I got mine for $10 at Gamestop but I'm sure you can be able to get it cheaper. 2) Connect the appropriate female and male wires with the exception of the yellow one, which is the composite analogue video cable. We will use the S-Video instead. 3) Download this program "Win DVR 3.0." You can check out the description here. I have the trial version right now, so if anybody can help out a fellow forum member... 4) After you install the program and open it, right click anywhere and scroll down to "Setup." From here, go to "Device" tab and change the Video Input device to your capture card, and change the Video Input source to S-Video. Your 360 dashboard should now appear in the back, but not full screen. To fix this, go to the "Display" tab and change the "Display Aspect Ration" to "16:9" or whatever fits your laptop. I have a 15'' screen so it fits fine. 5) To get sound. I don't know how to get sound to work on my laptop, but it's probably the same thing as getting the video. Under the same "Device" tab as the video one, there is an Audio Input device option. I'm sure you are supposed to change it to the option according to A/V cables but my computer has a MIC input and that's the option it gives. I don't know how to fix this yet. So yeah, that's basically it. As for lag wise, you won't see much lag. For me, the Xbox 360 broadcasts perfectly onto my laptop, except every minute or so, there is a 1 second hitch, or delay in the exchange of information. During this time, your screen will freeze, but your Xbox will keep playing. So you just have to imagine where you are going for less than a second. But this problem may be due to overheating of the ExpressCard or something like that. Well there you go, if you ever needed to know like I did, how to play your Xbox 360 on your Laptop Screen. (Have a Nice Day) :D
