Is something wrong with my monitor?

Something wrong with my monitor- Can't see anything!?

  • I have a dell computer. I'm not sure what model it is, but everything is running smoothly- except the monitor. I think my computer suddenly restarted because of a virus check, and I told it to restart after an hour. But after an hour, it had no warning, and just suddenly restarted. It was a little slow restarting and I started getting impatient. So on my monitor are a couple buttons (5 to be exact), and one of them is the power button. The one at the very end has a little picture of an arrow going into a square and when I pressed it, it said 1: Auto Detect When I pressed it again, it changed to 2: Analog Input I pressed it the third time, and it changed to 3: Digital Input And the other buttons, I pressed those as well. The button next to the one with the arrow and the box, has a little picture of a sheet of paper. When i pressed it, it said 3: Digital Input In power save mode Press Computer Button Or Any key on keyboard or move mouse THen the other 2 buttons are just minus and plus signs, with brightness and focus I think. Then I just started to get angry. I looked at the back of the monitor, and saw a small black rubber button. Nothing happened. I think my monitor is fairly new, and it shouldn't have any problems. I'm really scared, as I don't know what will happen if my parents find out. I can't ask them, because I was looking at something that will seriously anger my parents if they find out. What do I do?

  • Answer:

Well you have to check wheter your computer output is Digital or Analog A simple trick would be to go and look at the connector that comes from the computer and connects to the monitor if its Blue in color then its Analog and White in Color then its Digital Toggle back to the correct mode and see if that helps Or else call Dell

If you're getting a picture at all, and your computer restarted, then it's probably not your monitor. It might be the computer itself (the graphics card). Try unplugging the monitor from the computer, plugging back in, unplugging the power, plugging it back in... If you can't get any of the above suggestions to work, plug in a different monitor to the computer and get off the stuff you were looking at before your computer crashed. Odds are, it closed on its own when the computer restarted, but if it was really that horrible, you may want to make sure... Tell your parents that it just crashed... my guess is that you were looking at porn and got a virus though.
