MacBook Pro With Dual Monitors?

Two monitors, one pivoting to portrait, one landscape --> macbook pro 13?

  • Hi all. I just ordered a macbook pro 13 and now want to hook up two monitors for work: portrait monitor for word documents, and landscape monitor for outlook, web, and excel. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  • Answer:

The Macbook Pro can only be connected to ONE external monitor. It only has one miniDisplayPort. The only other way you can hook up another external monitor to the Macbook Pro is with an external USB video card, but I would strongly recommend against it-- External USB video cards are expensive, slow as molasses, very limited in resolution, and unstable. Totally not worth it. If you don't want to use a laptop display panel but want two full-size monitors, consider the Mac Mini instead. The current Mac Mini has two monitor jacks (miniDVI and miniDisplayPort), and each jack can drive a monitor independently.
